About our...Vision and values

Vision

The group seeks to become the preferred sub-Saharan African hotel group

Values

With hotels in every province of South Africa, and a hotel in Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique, our brands touch the lives of thousands of people every day. By caring for our guests, partnering with our suppliers, empowering our employees, protecting our environment, and giving back to our communities, we live our values, promising to care, create, contribute, collaborate, and connect in every interaction, every day.

Care

As a group, we endeavour to recognise the value that each person contributes. A supported employee is a supportive employee, and we understand that our employees will care about the company to the extent that the company cares about them. In this way we nurturing to our team of people, and we ensure they are part of the company’s success and ensure their willingness to go the extra mile for our guests, and we provide them with the skills to do so.

Create

If necessity is the mother of invention, the pandemic caused a wave of innovation for CLHG. After 100% of hotels closed in April 2020, it took the company two years to have 100% of hotels open again in February 2022. Management was proactive in facing the challenges head on, creating solutions that were agile, appropriate and fluid as the pandemic evolved. Employees were encouraged to innovate, working in new ways and multi-tasking to ensure guest comfort during uncertain times.

Contribute

Our corporate social investment initiatives link back to our values. Understanding that the financial costs of upliftment projects provide unquantifiable value to our communities has made giving back and inherent part of our value proposition. While the pandemic restricted the number of activities the group would normally engage in, the hotel general managers prioritised community engagement and upliftment during a time of significant need.

Connect

Hotels are inherently places of connection between guests and employees, and we have taken it one step further. The digital solutions introduced by the group during 2021, such as online check-in and QR codes, have connected us with our guests in a new way, and further technological developments in our hotels are key to our strategy going forward.

Collaborate

Management encourages teamwork across the organisation. The diversity and inclusion of our people is welcomed as it brings a range of perspectives, talents, and ideas, especially as our hotel properties are broadly distributed across southern Africa. Collaboration is also prioritised in our strategic partnerships and relationships with suppliers. We value partners and suppliers that share our environmental sustainability goals and B-BBEE objectives and have shifted our procurement policies accordingly.
